The 14th Lu Xun Teenagers Literature Award ceremony for China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) was held at the Hong Kong Palace Museum on Saturday.

Fifteen teenagers won the top prize, 25 schools won the group award for being the most actively participating schools, and 28 teachers were prized as the best instructors.

This year's competition in the HKSAR consisted of two categories, namely composition and calligraphy, for primary and secondary school students and teenagers in the region.

To encourage more non-Chinese teenagers to learn Chinese, a non-native language group was specially set up.

The competition attracted wide participation of young people in the HKSAR, with 1,263 entries in the composition category and 1,039 entries in the calligraphy category.

The award, named after the famous 20th-century Chinese writer Lu Xun, was initiated by his son Zhou Haiying in 2009 to carry forward the spirit of his father.

Zhou Lingfei, Lu Xun's eldest grandson and chairman and secretary general of Lu Xun Culture Foundation, valued the participants' spirit of exploration, and expected more fruitful results in the future to showcase the vibrancy of Hong Kong's youth.

The award ceremony also witnessed the establishment of an association composed of students who are committed to literary creation and exchanges, and have participated in the selection of the awards. A selection of award-wining works from 2021 to 2023 was released.
