Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced the second phase of his country's war against Hamas on Saturday, vowing to "destroy the enemy both above and below ground." The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) expanded their ground operations in Gaza while continuing to urge civilians to evacuate the northern Gaza Strip. Palestinian media reported that telephone and internet services are gradually being restored after most communications in Gaza were cut off. Many had feared that the disruption of communications would lead to Israeli military controlling the narrative of the fighting.
