Pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched in several cities across the world on Saturday, calling for a ceasefire and humanitarian truce in Gaza. The death toll in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli shelling and bombing has exceeded 8,000, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
According to Israel, Hamas militants hold some 220 hostages, families of whom demonstrated in Tel Aviv, demanding the Israeli government outline plans to rescue them as troops widened an assault on the Gaza Strip.
