World security leaders gather in China for talks on Global Security Initiative. Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission has delivered a keynote speech on Monday at the opening ceremony of the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum. CGTN's Zhao Yunfei reports. 

With the vision for common security and lasting peace, delegations from over 90 countries and international organizations discuss security matters in Beijing.

Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission welcomes the guests.

In the keynote speech, Zhang reiterated China's stance on issues related to China's core interests, especially the Taiwan question.

He says the People's Liberation will firmly protect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Zhang also stressed the importance of security cooperation across the world to implement the building of a community of shared future for mankind.

KAO KIM HOURN Secretary-General, ASEAN "The wars and conflicts continue to be part of the modern political system. What happened in Russia and Ukraine, the current Palestine and Israel conflict should be wake-up calls for all of us."

ZHAO YUNFEI Beijing "When it comes to confrontations and disputes, China has always called for political resolutions. The Beijing Xiangshan Forum is an opportunity for world security leaders to exchange ideas on current affairs."

ALI ALSHAYA Saudi Arabian Military Expert "China is looking for peace and security. It's very important for China because the world cannot be successfully built until there's peace."

JIANG XINFENG Researcher, Academy of Military Sciences "Through the collision of viewpoints, we can achieve greater consensus. We can provide more wisdom for global and regional security. I think this is a big purpose of holding the Beijing Xiangshan Forum."

The organizers of the Forum say there's a big increase in representation from developing countries and international and regional organizations this year.

The platform provides an opportunity for all countries to have discussions, express views, and resolve differences.
