The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command said its troops followed and monitored U.S. and Canadian warships when they transited the Taiwan Straits on Wednesday.
The theater command remains on high alert to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and regional peace and stability, said Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the PLA Eastern Theater Command.
