Since the outbreak of the latest round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt has been largely impassable. But after various mediation efforts, on November 1 the first batch of foreign passport holders and wounded people were allowed to leave the Gaza Strip via the crossing.

Tala is one of the many people gathered on the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, anxiously looking to flee Gaza. "This is the third time we came to the border and there are horrible circumstances with no ceasefire," Tala said, adding that people in the Gaza Strip are in a very difficult situation. In addition to the lack of food, water, gasoline and other supplies, explosions can happen at any time. "I'm just hoping for the borders to open, a ceasefire," Tala said.
