Japan's capital Tokyo on Saturday logged its 141st day this year that the mercury has hit 25 degrees Celsius or above, a record high.
As of 12:50 p.m. local time, the temperature in Tokyo reached an unseasonal 26.3 degrees Celsius, as a high-pressure system drove temperatures up from eastern to western Japan.
It was the first time since 2009 that central Tokyo saw a day high temperature hit 25 degrees Celsius in November, reaching the temperature threshold to be defined as a "summer day" in Japan.
The previous record number of summer days in Japan's capital was 140 days, reported in 2022.
