China issues further warnings for blizzards and cold waves

Many parts of China are being affected by cold waves, with regions in the north of the country experiencing a sharp drop in temperatures along with rain and snow, while some areas in southeast China are seeing heavy rain or torrential downpours.
Over the next three days, the Central Meteorological Administration of China predicts a risk of blizzards, rain, snow and freezing in parts of Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces. Northern and eastern China will also face strong winds and cooling temperatures.

Starting from 6 a.m. on Monday, the Central Meteorological Administration continued to issue orange warnings for blizzards, blue warnings for cold waves and blue warnings for strong winds. Since November, frequent and powerful cold waves have affected China. After this round of cold waves, it is expected that there will be additional cold fronts on Tuesday and Wednesday, leading to a gradual drop in temperatures in most parts of China.

Monday is forecast to be the peak of heavy snowfall in northeast China. China's northernmost province of Heilongjiang issued a red alert on Sunday for blizzards and multiple cities in the province are expected to experience heavy snowfall, with accumulative precipitation ranging between 20 millimeters to 40 millimeters, from Sunday evening to Monday evening, according to the forecast.
Harbin, the provincial capital, also issued a red alert for blizzards on Sunday. The municipal education bureau has announced the suspension of classes in kindergartens, elementary and middle schools, and off-campus training agencies on Monday in the six main urban districts of the city.
