Chinese competitors won several awards, including the gold medal, at the 2023 International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM), which is something like an annual academic bioengineering world championship.

Over 400 teams of more than 7,000 students, undergraduates and postgraduates from high schools and universities around the world have joined this competition.
