The documentary "An Isle," which focuses on the mutual aid between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) during the pandemic, shone at the 36th Golden Rooster Awards on Saturday.
The film recorded the touching stories as front-line workers came together to construct a central government-funded emergency hospital in Lok Ma Chau Loop area in the HKSAR.
In February 2022, the COVID-19 epidemic situation in Hong Kong was complicated and challenging. At the request of the HKSAR government, the central government approved funding to assist with the construction of an emergency hospital in Lok Ma Chau Loop area to help improve its medical treatment capacity.
Nearly 20,000 construction workers from all over the country joined the projects, working day and night, and completed the task in just 51 days, which experts called "a true miracle."
"An Isle" was nominated in the Best Documentary/Science and Educational Film category at the 36th Golden Rooster Awards.
Although the film did not nab the award, viewers said it tells the touching stories behind the construction "miracle" and bears witness to the mutual aid that took place between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.
Launched in 1981, the Golden Rooster Awards is a national event sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Film Association.
