The Palestinian Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip issued a statement on November 6, saying that since the outbreak of a new round of Israel-Palestine conflict on October 7, 10,022 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip. Tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza have been forced to flee their homes, including Fakhr Taj Shair, 65, with her parrots and a turtle.

Fakhr has set up a makeshift hut at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, where she lives with her pets. She braves the bombings daily to find food for her pets. "I wasn't scared when bombed," she said. "All I could think about was these parrots and this turtle. They are all living creatures like me."
