A Chinese envoy to the United Nations on Monday urged Israel to immediately lift blockade of the Gaza Strip, withdraw its evacuation order and restore water, electricity, food and fuel supply to the area.
Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the UN, made the remarks at a UN meeting deliberating the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
Geng said China condemns all forms of violence and attacks on civilians and all actions violating the international law. The red lines stipulated in the international humanitarian law cannot be touched, and the bottom line of international morality and human conscience cannot be breached, he said at the meeting.
Geng also reiterated China's call for an immediate ceasefire in the area. Without a lasting ceasefire, any humanitarian aid is negligible, he said.
