The 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai on November 5. Peruvian artisans made their debut at the CIIE, showcasing the production methods for making stuffed vicuna toys.

This unique animal, with its long neck, big eyes, shiny fur, and a resemblance to both sheep and camels, is a national treasure of Peru. The vicuna’s fur is highly prized for its value and the animal is often referred to as the “walking gold of the Andes.”

Domesticated vicunas come in various colors, including white, brown, yellow and black, and its wool can be spun directly into various kinds of clothing without the need for dyeing, aligning it perfectly with the eco-friendly philosophy of modern consumers.
