Indian cities have been wrapped in a thick blanket of smog as the country's air quality index (AQI) has seen alarming levels of unhealthy air since October.

Official data showed that on Wednesday, the AQI of India's capital New Delhi stood at 410, which falls in the "severe" pollution category.
