The Great World built in 1917 had been the most influential indoor amusement arcade in Shanghai. The historic landmark, topped by a distinctive four-storey tower, underwent renovations starting from 2008 and reopened to the public in 2016. Now it has been upgraded to a modern theater complex for traditional opera, acrobatics, concerts and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, blending tradition with Shanghai style, as well as history with modernity.
