What is Chinese modernization? A grocery store at the foot of Zheduo mountain in Kangding City, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province, might hold the answer.

Drolma lives in Edamenba Village, once officially recognized as a poverty-stricken village. However, that's now in the past. Roads have been constructed, creating a scenic area that attracts travelers from near and far. Many young locals, who previously worked in other cities and towns, have returned to make a living in their hometown. The young Tibetan woman has also opened a grocery store, offering yak jerky, dairy products and wild edibles. She not only caters to locals and travelers but also ships her goods to other areas in China, thanks to expansive express delivery networks.

Drolma attributes the progress in her hometown to convenient transportation, the development of the scenic area, and the collective efforts of the villagers, leading to poverty alleviation and a path towards modernization.
