As temperatures drop, a large number of migratory birds have flocked to the Ebinur Lake Wetland National Nature Reserve in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The red appearance of the landscape comes from the Suaeda salsa plant growing in the area. The nature reserve was established in 2000 and officials say the number of bird species recorded in the area has risen from 111 to 267.
