Are you familiar with China's Sibe ethnic group? Originally herdspeople in the country's north-eastern region, some 5,000 Sibe soldiers and their family migrated across the Mongolian Plateau to Xinjiang's Yili region during the Qing Dynasty around 260 years ago. This epic journey is now commemorated annually through the West Migration Festival. Today, there are around 190,000 Sibe people in China. Tourists have the opportunity to explore Sibe culture and experience archery at the Sibe Old Town, a tourism park established in 2002.
