The sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) has successfully wrapped up in Shanghai. Tentative deals worth a total of $78.41 billion were made for one-year purchases of goods and services, setting a record high. The figure is a 6.7-percent increase from that of last year. With increasing signs of stable and improved China-U.S. relations, Washington sent its "strongest ever" delegation to the expo.

In an interview with CGTN host Tian Wei, Robert Aspell, the Cargill Asia Pacific president, said he believes the world needs a healthy trade system, and the CIIE is providing a great platform for it. The heads of the U.S. Grains Council and the U.S. Soybean Export Council, who have just reached cooperation deals with their Chinese partners, are  keen on expanding cooperation with China. Manuel Sanchez, the country director of the U.S. Grains Council, said that whether there's traffic or storms on the "bridge of friendship" between China and the U.S., what's important is that the bridge stays intact.
