When it comes to traditional Chinese ancestor worship days, the first one that comes to mind is the Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, whilst the Hanyi Festival, which falls on November 13 this year, stands as another festive occasion where Chinese people pay tribute to the deceased and worship their ancestors.

In traditional Chinese folklore, the Hanyi Festival, along with the Qingming Festival and the Zhongyuan Festival, are widely referred to as the three "ghost festivals" in China.

Also known as Winter Clothing Day or Winter Clothes Day, this ancient festival, as its name indicates, is believed to be derived from the tradition of people preparing warm clothes and sending winter clothes to their loved ones.

On this day, people make ritual offerings, including paper-made clothes, to pay homage to the deceased in the hope of keeping them away from the winter chill.
