With an average elevation of 4,100 meters, Jianzuo Village is located near the headwaters of the Lancang River. Little known to the outsiders, it is the first community on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau to lead a zero-waste life. They gave up using plastic products and disposable items to better protect the water and soil in their hometown.

In the hinterland of Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, the Sanjiangyuan area is home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers, and is thus crowned as Asia's "water tower."
