With an average elevation of 4,100 meters, Jianzuo Village is located near the headwaters of the Lancang River. Little known to the outsiders, it is the first community on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau to lead a zero-waste life. They gave up using plastic products and disposable items to better protect the water and soil in their hometown.
About Journeys in Nature: Life in Sanjiangyuan Series
In the hinterland of Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, the Sanjiangyuan area is home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers, and is thus crowned as Asia's "water tower." On this fragile land rich in biodiversity, locals, scientists and NGOs work together to protect the wildlife and the environment. This series explores the diverse eco-friendly lifestyles of locals.
