The Denver Broncos defeated the Buffalo Bills 24-22 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, on Monday, securing their third consecutive win and giving the opponents their second straight loss.

The two teams put up a close game, even an exciting one in certain ways, but it was absolutely not a good game because you saw the following bad moments in it:

Two missed extra point attempts by the Broncos, one on the post and the other a failed two-point conversion; a fumble by the Bills when their quarterback (QB) Josh Allen gave the ball to running back James Cook; a missed 41-yard field goal by the Broncos' kicker Wil Lutz in the final 10 seconds; a too many men penalty by the Bills when Lutz took the shot; the second chance for Lutz who then made the field goal for the Broncos to come back in the end.

Any of the above play could happen in any game, but seeing them all in one made the most dramatic contest so far in the 2023 National Football League (NFL) season.

Of course, the two teams did many things right to keep the suspense of the game alive until the final play. Broncos' QB Russell Wilson completed 24 of his 29 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns. Most of his passes were short throws, but he made good use of his speed and tossing skills to complete a series of key plays. Before Patrick Mahomes refined his skills on the two fronts, Wilson was the one who often made magical plays like this.

One of the reasons that Wilson had to play like this was the Broncos' poor offensive line which could hardly slow the Bills' pass-rushers down, not to mention to stop them. The 34-year-old often had a very short period of time to make decisions. Though he made most of them right, he was still sacked four times.

Compared with Wilson, the Bills' QB Josh Allen only completed 16 of his 25 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown while throwing two interceptions. The team's most offensive work was done via rushing. Allen ran into the end zone to score the lead-taking touchdown in the team's final play. Cook, despite his two fumbles, rushed for 109 yards with 12 carries, including a 42-yard super run in Allen's touchdown scoring drive.
