The mainland has been and will always be the best choice for Taiwan enterprises to invest and do business, China's top political advisor Wang Huning said on Tuesday.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks at the 2023 annual conference of the summit for entrepreneurs across the Taiwan Straits.
Building a modern socialist country in all respects and advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization have provided great opportunities and broad space for Taiwan compatriots and enterprises to develop on the mainland, Wang said.
"We actively respond to the common aspiration of compatriots on both sides for peace, development, exchanges and cooperation, uphold the concept of 'both sides of the Taiwan Straits are of one family,' always respect, care for and deliver benefits to Taiwan compatriots, and strengthen cross-Straits economic cooperation and integrated development, contributing to the growth of the Chinese nation's economy," Wang added at the conference.
Noting the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations meets the vital interests and common aspirations of compatriots on both sides and the trend of the times, he called on both sides to hold the future of the Taiwan Straits firmly in their own hands and work together to pursue peace, achieve reunification and realize national rejuvenation.
The annual conference, which marks the 10th anniversary of the cross-Straits entrepreneurs summit, opened in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province.
Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the conference, urging entrepreneurs on both sides to safeguard the overall interests of the Chinese nation.
