The sub-forum of the second Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Agriculture was held in Sanya, south China's Hainan Province on Wednesday, where the focus on trade and economic cooperation in agriculture attracted nearly 200 representatives and delegates from China, 18 African countries and three international organizations.

The forum emphasized that China will continue to expand opening-up and promote high-quality development of agricultural and economic cooperation between China and Africa, with efforts to be made towards green development and cutting-edge technologies that support agricultural sustainable development in African countries.

The FOCAC has brought mutual benefits of both sides at all levels. Representatives of the forum reached a consensus to make new breakthroughs in the digital economy and smart agriculture as key areas for future cooperation.

According to data published at the forum, by the end of 2022, Chinese enterprises had invested more than $1.7 billion in Africa's agricultural sector, and had set up nearly 200 agricultural enterprises in two-thirds of the countries in the continent.

From 2020 to 2022, the trade volume of agricultural products between China and Africa reached $8.92 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 7.8 percent.
