Ministry of Emergency Management outlines new global cooperation mechanism

01:14

On November 14, China's Ministry of Emergency Management outlined the progress made towards establishing a new international cooperation mechanism. Officials announced a ministerial forum to be held on November 16, attended by officials and experts from 70 countries and regions. At the event, a Disaster Assessment Report among Belt and Road partners will be released, providing data on disasters and their social and economic impact. The ministerial meeting was first held two years ago with the Beijing Declaration, aiming to improve emergency response and regional cooperation in disasters. So far, the basics of the mechanism have been established, including a board of management, secretariat and a consultative commission. The goal is to continue promoting cooperation and seeking innovative solutions to tackle the challenges of climate change and regional emergency responses.
