In its 2023 Trade and Development Report, the UN Conference on Trade and Development has painted a dim global economic picture for next year. Challenges such as inflation, inequality and sovereign debt require more pragmatic policies by governments and major reforms of the global financial system. To take a closer look at the current global economic outlook and explore solutions for major economic challenges, we are joined by Dr. Richard Kozul-Wright, director of the Division on Globalization and Development Strategies of UNCTAD; and Ju Jiandong, Unigroup chair professor at the PBC School of Finance of Tsinghua University.
