Since its launch in 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative has played a major role in facilitating global trade, investment and financial integration. Spanning more than 150 countries, it is the first infrastructure initiative in history that is joined by some 70 percent of the world’s population, covering more than half of the global GDP. Egypt, as one of the first countries to join the BRI, has witnessed remarkable progress in the past decade. What changes has the BRI brought to Egypt, the Arab states, the Middle East and the world? How could the initiative better serve the development rights of more countries and reach its ultimate goal of building a global community of shared future?
