"The China-Cambodia film tour has not only enriched the cultural life of the local people in Cambodia but has also served as a platform to present the history, culture, and contemporary development of both China and Cambodia to grassroots audiences," said Hu Jinjun, vice president of China Media Group (CMG), during the launch ceremony of the event on Friday.
Jointly hosted by CMG, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, and Cambodia's Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the screening tour aims to promote cultural exchange and collaboration between China and Cambodia, offering the Cambodian people the chance to enjoy exceptional outstanding Chinese film productions.
"Film art serves as an effective cultural link, conveying and influencing the audience's values," said You Sophea, deputy governor of Cambodia's Siem Reap province, during her speech at the ceremony.
"We believe that this event will help the people of Cambodia better understand China, strengthen mutual exchange, and foster connections between the two countries," she added.
Since its initiation in 2016, the China-Cambodia film tour has screened more than 100 films in all 25 cities and provinces in Cambodia, attracting a total of more than 100,000 viewers.
After the launch ceremony, nearly 150 guests and audiences joined to watch the Cambodian-dubbed version of"Crossing the Yalu River", which was produced by CMG.
