Expert: ASEAN countries do not want any major power conflict

Syed Mahmud Ali, associate fellow at the University of Malaya, points out that as victims of imperial colonial subjugation for centuries, ASEAN countries have forged the common denominators among those countries - a political consensus and low-profile diplomacy despite historical differences. They do not want any major power conflict, and would avoid this by all means.
