A first-ever half-marathon (Hong Kong Section) on a mega sea-crossing bridge linking Guangdong Province and the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions attracted around 8,000 global participants.

The 55-kilometer-long Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge went into operation on October 24, 2018, and was designed to facilitate integration in the Greater Bay Area, comprising Hong Kong, Macao and nine cities in Guangdong.
