Co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, focusing on the theme of "the responsibilities and missions of China-Laos media in building the Belt and Road," the China-Laos media forum took place in the Lao capital, Vientiane, on Monday. Hu Jinjun, vice president of CMG, and Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Phosy Keomanivong attended the forum.

Speaking at the forum, Hu noted that during last month's third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Thongloun Sisoulith, general secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and Lao president, and the two leaders inked a 2024-2028 action plan between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the LPRP on building a China-Laos community with a shared future, which sets out important guidelines for the future cooperation in the media.

Hu said CMG is willing to collaborate closely with Lao media counterparts to inject new vitality into the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and make new contributions to deepening mutually beneficial and win-win relations between China and Laos. CMG aims to persist in constructing a platform for civilizational dialogue and exchange that transcends geographical limitations and cultural differences, he added.

Phosy Keomanivong said CMG is an important partner for the Lao media industry. Lao media institutions are willing to maintain communication with CMG in various fields such as broadcasting, television, newspapers and new media, he said. The deputy minister also noted that Laos seeks to strengthen information sharing and personnel exchanges, initiate high-quality cooperation, and make greater contributions to building a community of shared future between Laos and China.
