China will be able to make more of its large-thrust rockets and at a faster pace, because now it only takes two days to test the engines used in its liquid oxygen-kerosene rockets.
The Sixth Academy of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) announced on Tuesday that the time for the test – accounting for the time the engine was placed on the test stand to ignition – has been reduced from three days. The announcement was made after the latest test in Xi'an City, northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
The academy says that this improvement in the country's rocket testing capabilities will facilitate the mass production of new-generation launch vehicles.
China has committed to over 60 space launch missions in 2023, with the CASC conducting over 50 aerospace tasks and the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp. organizing 10 spaceflights.
