UN agency starts distributing flour to displaced Gaza residents

00:59

A United Nations relief agency started to distribute flour to displaced residents in the war-torn Gaza Strip for the first time, bringing some short-term relief to families who are running desperately low on essential food supplies. The flour, delivered from Egypt, was distributed in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The flour distribution is based on the size of the household; families of up to three people will receive one 30kg sack of flour and families of four to six members will receive two 30kg sacks of flour. It is hoped that this move will help meet the immediate needs of tens of thousands of families in the southern and central Gaza Strip, many of whom are struggling to get by.
