Ecuador's new president, the 35-year-old millionaire heir to a business empire, Daniel Noboa, has taken office as the country's leader. Noboa, who replaces Guillermo Lasso, vowed to restore peace in Ecuador. He will serve for 18 months, the remainder of Lasso's term.
