Iceland is bracing for a possible volcanic eruption as magma moving underground in the country's southwest threatens to breach the surface and begin flowing across the landscape after hundreds of earthquakes rumbled the region for weeks.

Counter to earlier forecasts, the coastal town of Grindavík – where almost 4,000 people have been evacuated – is now less likely to be affected. The Icelandic authorities lowered the public safety level in Grindavík from an emergency level to a danger level at 11 a.m. local time on Thursday.  

CGTN Stringer hit the town to discover the thoughts and plans of locals. They noted that the sewage, electricity and hot water systems were severely damaged, and were not expecting to be able to return home for at least three months.
