Mira Burri: Protectionism hinders the data-driven economy

The second Forum on the Rule of Law in Global Digital Trade was held on November 24, 2023, as part of the second Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE) in Hangzhou, China. Speaking exclusively with CGTN on the sidelines of the forum, Mira Burri, professor of international economic and internet law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lucerne, Switzerland, noted that although there are competing interests across stakeholders to stay at the forefront of digital innovation and digital growth, there is a danger attached to geopolitically-driven protectionism. In this regard, trade law plays an important role.
