World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and No. 4 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan are the latest top players who have announced to join the Brisbane International to open their 2024 season, according to organizers on Tuesday.

They will join four-time Grand Slam winner and former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka of Japan, who gave birth to her first child in July this year, to warm up in Brisbane for the opening Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open.

The women's main draw, which expanded from 36 to 48, also include big names such as twice Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. On the men's side, the organizers are hoping to have world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz of Spain on board before the Australian Open, where he pulled out due to injury in January this year.

"Australia holds a special place in my heart after winning my first Grand Slam there," said Sabalenka, who is looking to defend her title in Melbourne from last year, which remains to be the only Grand Slam title she owns.

"I can't wait to make my debut at the Brisbane International and play in front of the Queensland tennis fans," she added.
