Israel and Hamas accused each other of violating the temporary ceasefire on Tuesday. The Israel Defense Forces said Hamas detonated explosive devices near its troops, while Hamas said the Israeli forces exerted "field friction" in the northern Gaza Strip. Wang Jin, an associate professor and specialist in Middle Eastern studies at Northwest University, says a permanent ceasefire is difficult to achieve at the current stage given the continued hostilities and tensions between the two sides.
