It is hoped that people from all walks of life in China and the U.S. will continue to strive to promote the sound, stable and sustained development of China-U.S. relations, as well as world peace and prosperity, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
Recently, 34 think tanks and civil organizations in the U.S. jointly wrote to the Chinese and U.S. heads of state, calling on the two countries to work together to continuously reduce dangerous frictions in bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation on issues related to protecting the planet, world peace and prosperity.
Responding to a question about the letter at a regular press briefing, Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for the ministry, said it reflects the widespread calls from all walks of life in the U.S. for the stability and improvement of bilateral relations.
Wang said the meeting between the two heads of state in San Francisco has further clarified the major responsibilities that the two countries share and achieved a series of consensus and results, which also reflects and represents the common will of the two peoples and the general expectations of the international community.
