President Xi Jinping has called for major new breakthroughs in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. He was presiding at a symposium on Thursday in Shanghai. He urged the region to play a leading role in Chinese modernization. He said integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta has been productive, but there are also problems to be solved. He called for continued effort while maintaining stability.
Xi urged stronger cross-regional cooperation in scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation. He said regional segmentation and administrative barriers need to be broken down. He stressed high-level institutional opening-up. He also urged stronger ecological and environmental protection and called for greater security development.
