In late autumn, in the gullies of Yunkai Mountain in Maoming City, south China's Guangdong Province, a big-headed turtle is looking for a stone cave with flowing water before hibernation. Despite its disproportional body shape and clumsy looks, it's one of the most ferocious freshwater turtles in China. It will not hesitate to fight for the sovereignty of its territory.
About 'Journeys in Nature: Guangdong Maoming Series'
Maoming City is a biodiversity hub in south China's Guangdong Province. Leaning against the Yunkai Mountains, one of the largest mountain ranges in Guangdong and facing the South China Sea, the city is endowed with a wet tropical climate, which has attracted numerous wild animal and plant species.
