The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it intercepted a rocket launched from Gaza early on Friday morning, as the truce with Hamas is due to expire within hours.

The IDF said in a statement that "one launch was detected and intercepted by air defense fighters." Local media outlet Kann News said that this was the first such instance since the beginning of the ceasefire.

Media affiliated with Hamas reported that explosions and gunfire were heard in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
