Yang Shaohui has reset Chinese runners' marathon record as he clocked 2:07:09 to finish second during the Fukuoka International Marathon on Sunday.
The 31-year-old Chinese runner was only 0:00:01 behind the winner, Michael Githae of Kenya.
Yang finished 2:07:49 during the Wuxi Marathon in March.
Enock Onchari of Kenya (2:07:19) and He Jie of China (2:07:30) took the gold and silver medals respectively in Wuxi, east China's Jiangsu Province.
In October, during the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, He Jie won the men's marathon title with 2:13:2 while Yang took bronze with 2:13:39.
