During the past 20 years, Liu Dewen, the chief of Xiangheli Village in Kaohsiung of the Taiwan region, has voluntarily searched for and brought the ashes of more than 200 veterans back to their hometowns on the Chinese mainland. In 2023, the ashes of Tang Yiqi, a veteran who left Sichuan Province for more than 70 years, were returned to his hometown for burial with the help of Liu Dewen.
