A look at the 'frog of Asia'

CGTN

00:25

The Indian bullfrog is a tailless amphibian. Its back has yellow-green and brown patterns similar to a tiger's skin, hence its Chinese moniker. It feeds on insects, shrimp, crabs, smaller frogs, and other animals, earning it the title "frog of Asia."

While most frogs are sensitive to movable objects and thereby only hunt moving prey, the Indian bullfrog uses its vision and sense of smell to detect stationary targets.

The Indian bullfrog prefers living in paddy fields, streams, ponds, swamps, and the surrounding grassland and woodlands. The species is widely distributed in the south of China's Yangtze River and could often be seen in the wild. However, its numbers have decreased dramatically due to the deteriorating environment.
