CGTN

Carbon neutrality was reached during the 19th Asian Games and the 4th Asian Para Games in the Chinese city of Hangzhou this year, which is the first time in the history of the events, organizers said at a press conference on Wednesday.

According to a spokesperson, after the accounting and evaluation by third-party authoritative institutions, the total greenhouse gas emissions of the Hangzhou Asian Games and Hangzhou Asian Para Games were 882,900 tonnes. Up until now, the carbon offset index donated to the organizing committees from all walks of life has reached 1.099 million tonnes, which exceeds the total emissions, thus ensuring carbon neutrality.
