The Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom (UK) made solemn representations to the UK on the issue of British sanctions against Chinese companies on Wednesday, a spokesperson from the embassy said.

"China firmly opposes the UK's actions that violate international law, abuse unilateral sanctions and harm the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies," the spokesperson said.

"China has always adhered to an objective and fair stance on the Ukrainian issue and has been actively committed to promoting peace talks and promoting political settlement. We urge the UK government to immediately correct its mistakes and lift sanctions on Chinese companies," the spokesperson added.
