A 20-meter-tall snowman has been unveiled in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, towering above workers shaping the final touches. Replete with a red pompom beanie and a striped scarf, the larger-than-life figure's appearance heralds the city's snow tourism season, the highlight of which is the annual Harbin Ice and Snow Festival, which officially opens on January 5, 2024 and features an array of sculptures and activities. Constructed near the Qunli River in Harbin's Daoli District, Mr. Snowman beckons this year's throng of tourists.
