00:48

The main part of the Lhasa-Shigatse Expressway, which connects the cities of Lhasa and Shigatse in China's Xizang Autonomous Region, was completed on December 5. The expressway, which stretches 166.98 kilometers, is expected to be open to traffic in June next year. With a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour, the two-way, four-lane expressway will serve as an important passageway opening to South Asia. Once completed, the expressway will cut the driving time between Lhasa and Shigatse to less than three hours from nearly six hours.
